Not my usual content, but it somewhat relates to my closet so thought I’d give it a brief moment here.
After a lot of research and soul searching, I have decided not to eat any more animal products (including eggs and dairy). I’m not sure how this will evolve, or how successful I’ll be at it, but for a long time now I have felt such a deep sense of guilt over eating meat and believe I need to take some steps to live more in accordance with my values.
Obviously, I have a lot of animal-based products in my closet (leather, silk, cashmere, alpaca, wool…) and I will continue to wear those items. As of right now, I don’t plan to add more animal-based products to my closet, but I do worry about the impact of vegan leathers, etc. on the environment since they’re mostly plastic-derived. So I’m not sure what the future holds there. Everything has it’s pros and cons, I suppose.
I’m striving for progress, not perfection though, and I don’t feel like I really need to label what I’m doing (vegetarian vs. strict vegetarian vs. vegan). Just giving something new a try.
